Illuminator

'Illuminator' was inspired by Camus's book 'The Plague'. Although the book mostly describes viruses, I unconsciously drew many images involving flames.

Perhaps the virus itself is the flame, and the flame is the virus, or the fear and anxiety that lie deep in our consciousness, a threat, a curse.

The people in 'The Plague' are always silent, held hostage by the fire, while the virus envelops the city, the light of the fire perhaps in their eyes changed from a curse to an outlet for relief.

So I thought about the curses that spread fear, and my drawings were stuffed into matchboxes like little ads, as a warning. If you receive it, please light a match and hold the flame in your hand. We can all be illuminators who bring light.
